What’s this, then?

Before I start bombarding you with a weekly blog I thought I would take the opportunity of explaining things first.

Many of you will already know that I am Severely Sight Impaired, which is Blind in old money. Since my condition forced me to finally give up work I have resumed my hobby of writing. I was lucky enough to have my first book, Lionheart, published in 2014. My new novel, Wish Dead List, which is, bizarrely, the fourth story in the series, is due for release later this year. I have started two others, Missing and The Vegan Vigilante, in the intervening years. I will return to them one day. The fifth, Kidnap, is now well on the way. There are also a few short stories, A Christmas Doll, Christmas Down Under and Rescue on an African River, which will be out in electronic format later this year.

My travel blog…

During the winter of 2023/24 my wife, Jane, and I were fortunate enough to go on a fabulous trip to East Asia. Not everything went to plan, largely thanks to my lack of vision. It was while I was sitting on a balcony one evening, sundowner in hand, that I started to think about writing a blog about my experiences travelling as a blind man.

Then it occurred to me to describe what it is like living with impending and eventual blindness. This will have serious and educational angles to it but, in the main, I want to make people laugh. After all, what seem like everyday standard procedures to sighted people, sometimes end up a total disaster for a partially sighted or blind person. Everything has a funny side.

You have received this email because you are in my contacts list. If it is not your cup of tea or you are offended by it, details of how to unsubscribe can be found at the bottom of this email.

It would be lovely, though, if you could continue reading and, if you like it, tell all your friends, enemies and colleagues that they too can join in the fun by going to my website where they can join the community. It will drop into your Inbox regularly.

This newsletter will contain, not only serialised versions of the blog but, news of new publications along with events I might be attending and speaking at. If you would like me to come to you to give a talk don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I think that is about it for now, so if you are interested in learning more please go to the website, www.roberttaylorauthor.co.uk or you are more than welcome to email me at travellingblind@roberttaylorauthor.co.uk.
